Parbulu Village, Buru Regency, Maluku Province, is located within the Waepo Groundwater Basin and is underlain by Quaternary deposits developed in an alluvial environment. This geological setting includes sand and gravel that may serve as media for groundwater storage and movement, as well as clay with relatively low permeability that may act as a confining layer. This study aims to interpret the resistivity characteristics, lithology, depth, and thickness of subsurface layers and to identify indications of layers that may act as groundwater-bearing units based on Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) using the Schlumberger configuration. Measurements were conducted at five sounding points, namely GL-01 to GL-05, with a maximum electrode spread of 400 m. The data were processed using IPI2WIN and PROGRESS v3.0, integrated with regional geological and hydrogeological conditions, and visualized using RockWorks 17 and Surfer. The interpretation results show resistivity values ranging from 1.08 to 8,969 Ωm, with interpreted materials consisting of clay, sandy clay, sand, sandy material, and gravel. Intervals interpreted as indications of groundwater-bearing layers are generally composed of sand and gravel, whereas clay layers are interpreted as relatively low-permeability confining layers. At GL-04, a sand interval at a depth of 5.56–15.70 m has a thickness of 10.14 m, while GL-05 contains a permeable-material interval at a depth of 54.65–97.64 m separated by a relatively thick clay layer. The three-dimensional model provides an interpretative visualization of subsurface variations based on interpolation between the five VES points and is not considered direct evidence of lateral continuity between sounding points. The results provide preliminary information on subsurface characteristics and indications of groundwater-bearing intervals that may support further hydrogeological investigations related to groundwater utilization for irrigation. Determination of groundwater discharge, quality, productivity, and sustainability requires further hydrogeological investigation.
